Connect 9/21/16

Hey everyone,

 

Have you ever seen one of those healing ministries on television? I’m thinking of the ones where for a donation you can receive a prayer cloth or something similar. At a point in my mom’s life where she was suffering with vision issues, she sent a donation to a ministry and received a cloth that she pinned to herself. I was surprised because I had never seen this in her before. For several days she pinned that cloth to herself. Years later she received a prosthetic eye to relieve the glaucoma and scar tissue that had built up. She simply desired to be healed.

 

I will never forget that and I’m always reminded of this when I read the passage we’re looking at on Sunday, Acts 19:12. From handkerchiefs and aprons that touched Paul’s skin, people were healed and evil spirits came out of them. This is not all that happened in Ephesus where we read this strange story. People who were involved with the occult burned all their magic books when they started to believe in Jesus. And there were riots!

 

This seems a lot different from meetings for Young Life, Campus Crusade, or FCA! On Sunday we’ll look at what these “Power Encounters” mean for us and how we can apply them.
