Staff and Directions

Steve is the founding and senior pastor of Redeemer. Steve moved to Denver along with his wife, Julie, in 1995 from Jacksonville, Florida. They have three children, Lizzie, Kat, and Chris. Steve graduated from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO with his M.Div and more recently he completed his Doctor of Ministry in 2014 from Covenant. Before planting Redeemer, Steve served as a youth pastor for 11 years in churches in South Carolina, Kansas, and Florida. Steve is a devoted Cardinals baseball fan, attending a number of Rockies games on days off during the summer. Steve enjoys studying jazz guitar while seeking to “expand” his family’s musical vocabulary.

Amy grew up in Denver and went to school at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. She graduated with her BA in Education with her license in K-6 teaching. She taught for 10 years in elementary school before staying home to raise her children. In 2010, Amy married Derek McCluskie and now they have 3 children: Weston (5), Tanner (3), and Piper (18 mos).

Before marrying, Amy served on staff with Campus Crusade for 3 years. She ministered  to college students in Durango, Mexico and Boulder, CO. She’s an amazing lady, gifted by the Lord specifically for children’s ministry. Amy has a passion for children and the parents who raise them.

Dan is a graduate of Univ. of N. Colorado with his BA in English and minor in Spanish. He met Jedidah through Redeemer and both served on our music team, Dan on guitar and Jedidah on violin!  Shortly after their wedding, they went to Africa with Peace Corps. Dan is a certified secondary teacher and currently serves as Mentor Specialist with Save Our Youth in Parker. Jedidah is the Director of Whiz Kids for Denver. 

I believe God has given us the gift of music and song as way to express our praise, our laments, our worries and our prayers. The power of music- the way we sing along, clap along, dance along and are genuinely moved by it- is evidence that it is among the most powerful method of communication. This is why music is important to the Church and at Redeemer. As the Worship Leader on Sunday morning, it is my goal for everyone to connect with the Lord through music and singing, so that we may learn to communicate better with Him in our daily lives.

Katie Higgins has served our youth, counseled at camp, and personally discipled our girls. Katie has served 2 internships with Serge Missions in Ireland and London. She is currently a student at Arapahoe Community College while preparing for service in missions. 

Since 1991, I've been called to minister to women in difficult circumstances of many kinds, including addiction and relationships. Here in Redeemer I am a lay leader in our Stephen Ministry, a distinctively Christian listening/caring ministry.
